The HDFC Millennia Credit Card is built for people whose spending happens mostly on apps. Instead of reward points with confusing conversion rates, it pays straight cashback: 5% on ten popular platforms and 1% on most other spends, credited as statement balance. For a typical urban user who orders food, shops online and books cabs every week, it is one of the easiest cards in India to get real value from.
How the cashback works
| Where you spend | Cashback | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, Uber, Myntra, Sony LIV, Tata CLiQ, BookMyShow, Cult.fit | 5% | ₹1,000 per billing cycle |
| All other eligible spends | 1% | ₹1,000 per billing cycle |
| Quarterly milestone: ₹1,00,000 spent in a calendar quarter | ₹1,000 gift voucher | Once per quarter |
Earns nothing on: fuel, EMI transactions (for the 5% rate), wallet loads, rent payments and government-related transactions.
What you would actually earn
Say you spend ₹15,000 a month across the partner apps and another ₹10,000 on groceries, bills and shopping elsewhere. That earns about ₹750 + ₹100 = ₹850 a month, or roughly ₹10,200 a year. That spending level also adds up to ₹3 lakh a year, comfortably above the ₹1 lakh needed to waive the annual fee, so the card effectively costs you nothing after the first year.
The 5% bucket maxes out once you spend ₹20,000 a month on the partner apps. Beyond that, a second card is a better home for the extra spending.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you spend ₹8,000–₹20,000 a month on Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato or the other partner apps and want simple cashback without tracking points.
Skip it if your biggest expense is fuel, rent or travel, or if you are over 40. A fuel or travel card will return more, and the age limit rules you out.
