The IndusInd Platinum RuPay Credit Card is a lifetime-free card on the RuPay network that rewards the way India pays today. You earn 2 reward points per ₹100 on UPI, double the rate on other spends, and you never pay a joining or annual fee. It is also open to first-time credit card users, salaried or self-employed, with a fairly low income requirement of ₹20,000 a month for salaried applicants.
How the rewards work
| Spend | Reward points |
|---|---|
| UPI transactions | 2 reward points per ₹100 |
| Non-UPI transactions | 1 reward point per ₹100 |
Because the card runs on RuPay, it is built for UPI: scan-and-pay at shops, pay bills or order online through your UPI app and the spend goes on your credit card, earning double points. The offer does not specify a rupee value per point, so check IndusInd’s redemption catalogue for the current rate.
Why a lifetime-free card is worth having
With no annual fee, there is no spending target to chase and no cost to keep the card open. That matters for your credit score: an old, unused-but-open card adds to your credit history and total available limit. As a first card, it lets you build a record without paying anything.
Other benefits
| Benefit | Details |
|---|---|
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% at all petrol pumps in India on ₹400–₹4,000 transactions |
| Travel insurance | Cover worth ₹2.25 lakh |
| Lost baggage | Up to ₹1,00,000 |
| Passport loss | Up to ₹50,000 |
| Delayed baggage, lost ticket, missed connection | Up to ₹25,000 each |
What you would actually earn
Say you spend ₹12,000 a month through UPI and ₹8,000 on other card spends. That earns 240 + 80 = 320 reward points a month, or 3,840 a year. The final rupee value depends on IndusInd’s redemption options, but since the card costs nothing, every point is a net gain.

Tips to get more value
- Link the card to your UPI app and use it for everyday scan-and-pay to earn the higher rate.
- Use it at the pump for the fuel surcharge waiver on fills between ₹400 and ₹4,000.
- Pay the full bill by the due date; interest on unpaid balances outweighs any rewards.
Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you want a free first credit card, pay mostly through UPI, or simply want a no-cost backup card with travel insurance.
Skip it if you want high rewards, lounge access or milestone vouchers. A paid cashback or rewards card will return more if you spend heavily.
