Our verdict

What we like

  • Open to first-time credit card users with a 650+ score
  • Points are worth a healthy ₹0.65 each and never expire
  • Total Protect covers fraud up to your credit limit

Watch out for

  • Overall reward rate is modest at about 0.65%
  • IndusInd may offer you a different card based on your profile
  • Few headline perks beyond partner discounts

The IndusInd Platinum Credit Card is a no-frills, lifetime free card with one quietly useful feature: its reward points never expire.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ It earns 1.5 points per ₹150, with each point worth ₹0.65, adds a fuel surcharge waiver, travel insurance and fraud protection, and accepts first-time credit card applicants.

How the rewards work

Point value₹0.65 per point
Effective returnAbout 0.65%

RedemptionAir miles on partner airlines, cash credit or pay with rewards

What you would actually earn

Spend ₹20,000 a month and you earn 200 points, worth about ₹130 a month or ₹1,560 a year. That will not rival a cashback card, but with zero fees and no expiry, nothing is lost if you only use the card occasionally. It works well as a backup card or as a first card to build a credit history.

The ₹0.65 point value is higher than on many entry-level cards, and redemption is flexible: convert points to air miles with partner airlines, take them as cash credit against your bill, or use them to pay for purchases. Since they never expire, you can let them build up for a bigger redemption later.

Other benefits

  • Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% at all petrol pumps across India.
  • Travel insurance: complimentary ICICI Lombard cover under the Platinum Travel Plus programme.
  • Total Protect: cover up to your credit limit for unauthorised transactions if the card is lost or stolen (reported within 48 hours), and for counterfeit fraud.

Partner discounts

  • boAt: flat 10% off sitewide.
  • BigBasket: 10% instant discount up to ₹250 on orders of ₹2,000+.
  • PVR: ₹100 off food and beverage orders above ₹350.
  • Lifestyle: an extra 15% off on orders above ₹1,999.
  • Others: offers on Swiggy, Titan, Reliance and more through IndusInd’s offers portal.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t

Get it if you want your first credit card, a free backup card, or a card where points never vanish. The 650+ score requirement is lower than most banks ask for.

Skip it if you want strong rewards on everyday spending. A cashback card will return two or three times as much on the same purchases.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌
