The Kiwi UPI Credit Card is designed around how India actually pays: by scanning QR codes. Link it to UPI in the Kiwi app and you earn 1.5% cashback on Scan and Pay with the lifetime free card, or 2% if you upgrade to the paid Kiwi Neon membership. It is a simple way to earn on small shop payments that most credit cards miss.
How the cashback works
| Where you spend | Kiwi LTF (free) | Kiwi Neon (₹999 + taxes) |
|---|---|---|
| Scan and Pay UPI transactions | 1.5% | 2% |
| Online transactions | 0.5% | 0.5% |
| Non-UPI transactions | 2 Reward Points per ₹200 | 2 Reward Points per ₹200 |
| Annual milestones (₹50,000+ on the Kiwi app) | – | Up to 5% cashback and lounge access |
Earns less on: online payments get only 0.5%, and usual exclusions such as rent and fuel apply. Cashback arrives as Kiwis in the app, which you claim as an instant credit to your savings account.
What you would actually earn
Pay ₹15,000 a month at shops, cafés and kirana stores by scanning QR codes and the free card returns about ₹225 a month, or ₹2,700 a year. On Neon, the same spending earns 2%, or ₹3,600 a year, so the ₹999 + taxes fee only makes sense if you spend well above this or will use the milestone benefits and lounge visits.
Is Kiwi Neon worth it?
- Neon adds 0.5 percentage points on Scan and Pay. At ₹15,000 a month, that is ₹900 extra a year, slightly less than the fee with taxes.
- Neon users who spend ₹50,000 or more a year on the Kiwi app can earn up to 5% cashback.
- Neon also gives 1 airport lounge visit each time you reach annual spends of ₹50,000, ₹1 lakh and ₹1.5 lakh.
For most people, start with the free card and upgrade only once you see how much you spend. You can track your UPI spending in the Kiwi app for a few months, then decide whether the higher rate and milestone benefits would pay for the membership.

- Sign up and complete the application in the same session.
- Finish KYC and verification when prompted.
- Once approved, link the card to UPI in the Kiwi app and start scanning QR codes to earn cashback.
Use the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar during sign-up, and keep three months of bank statements ready as a PDF so you can upload them without leaving the application.
Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you make lots of small UPI payments at shops and want to earn cashback on them, without paying a fee. The low income bar makes it reachable for many salaried workers.
Skip it if you are self-employed (not accepted) or do most of your spending online, where 0.5% is a weak return.
