The SBI PRIME Credit Card sits between SBI’s entry cards and its premium Elite card. It costs ₹2,999 + GST, but a ₹3,000 welcome voucher covers that in year one. After that, it earns 2.5% back on dining, groceries, departmental stores and movies, adds 12 lounge visits a year, and rewards steady spenders with quarterly and annual milestone vouchers.
How the rewards work
| Where you spend | Reward points | Value back |
|---|---|---|
| Dining, groceries, departmental stores, movies | 10 points per ₹100 | 2.5% |
| Other retail spends (excluding fuel) | 2 points per ₹100 | 0.5% |
| Birthday (day before, day of, day after) | 20 points per ₹100 | Up to 2,000 points a year |
Earns nothing on: fuel, which is excluded from reward points. It does get a 1% surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹4,000 transactions, up to ₹250 a month.
Milestones and welcome gift
| Benefit | Reward | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome | ₹3,000 voucher (Bata, Hush Puppies, Pantaloons, Aditya Birla Fashion, Shoppers Stop or Yatra) | On paying the annual fee |
| Quarterly | ₹1,000 Pizza Hut voucher | Spend ₹50,000 in a quarter |
| Annual | ₹7,000 e-gift voucher (Yatra, Pantaloons and others) | Spend ₹5 lakh in a year |
What you would actually earn
Say you spend ₹20,000 a month on groceries, dining and movies and ₹15,000 on other shopping and bills. Points work out to about ₹500 + ₹75 = ₹575 a month. At ₹35,000 a month you also cross ₹1 lakh a quarter, earning four ₹1,000 Pizza Hut vouchers, and your ₹4.2 lakh a year clears the ₹3 lakh fee waiver. That is roughly ₹10,900 a year in value before lounges.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you spend ₹25,000 or more a month, much of it on groceries and eating out, and can comfortably reach ₹3 lakh a year to keep the card free.
Skip it if you spend less than ₹20,000 a month. You will pay ₹2,999 from year two without reaching the milestones, and a ₹499 card like SBI SimplySAVE will serve you better.
