The HDFC Shoppers Stop Credit Card is an entry-level RuPay card for people who shop at Shoppers Stop. For a fee of just ₹299 + GST, you get 3% back in reward points at Shoppers Stop, 1% on everything else, a ₹500 voucher on activation and a free Silver Edge membership. The welcome benefits alone are worth more than the fee.
How the rewards work
| Where you spend | What you get | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Shoppers Stop spends | 3% in reward points | ₹500 a month |
| All other spends | 1% in reward points | ₹1,000 a month |
| Welcome voucher | ₹500 Shoppers Stop voucher | On card activation |
| Membership | Shoppers Stop Silver Edge (worth ₹350) | Complimentary |
What you would actually earn
Say you spend ₹4,000 a month at Shoppers Stop and ₹15,000 elsewhere. That earns about ₹120 + ₹150 = ₹270 a month, or roughly ₹3,240 a year, against a fee of ₹299 + GST. In the first year you also get the ₹500 voucher and the ₹350 membership.
The 3% bucket maxes out at about ₹16,700 of Shoppers Stop spend a month, and the 1% bucket at ₹1 lakh. Few people will hit either cap, which makes this a surprisingly flexible everyday card.
Other benefits
- Silver Edge membership: complimentary Shoppers Stop Silver Edge membership worth ₹350, which adds member perks on top of your card rewards.
- Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% waiver at petrol pumps, worth up to ₹250 per statement cycle.
- RuPay network: wide acceptance at shops and online merchants across India.
- Low cost of entry: at ₹299 + GST a year, it is one of HDFC’s most affordable co-branded cards.
Is the ₹299 fee worth it?
In the first year, clearly yes: the ₹500 voucher and ₹350 membership together are worth nearly three times the fee. From the second year, you need about ₹30,000 of spending a year at the 1% rate, or ₹10,000 at Shoppers Stop at 3%, to earn back the fee in rewards. Most cardholders will do that without thinking about it.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you shop at Shoppers Stop a few times a year and want a cheap, easy-to-get first card that still pays 1% on everyday spends.
Skip it if you rarely visit Shoppers Stop and do most of your shopping online. An online cashback card will return much more for a similar fee.
