The IDFC FIRST Power Credit Card is a budget fuel card for people who fill up at HPCL stations. For a fee of just ₹199 + GST, easily waived, it offers up to 5% savings on HPCL fuel, up to 2.5% on groceries, utility bills and FASTag recharges, and a feature you rarely see on cheap cards: zero forex markup.
How the rewards work
| Where you spend | What you earn | Value back |
|---|---|---|
| HPCL fuel | 21 Reward Points per ₹150 + HP Pay benefits | Up to 5% |
| Groceries, utility bills, IDFC FIRST FASTag | 15 Reward Points per ₹150 | Up to 2.5% |
| Eligible UPI and retail spends | 2X Reward Points | Not stated |
| International spends | 0% forex markup | Saves the usual conversion fee |
Good to know: the “up to” figures are the bank’s own estimates and include HP Pay benefits where applicable. The scraped details do not list monthly caps, so check the latest terms if you are a very heavy fuel spender.
What you would actually save
Say you spend ₹4,000 a month on HPCL fuel and ₹5,000 on groceries and utility bills. At the stated rates, that is up to ₹200 + ₹125 = ₹325 a month, or close to ₹3,900 a year. Your yearly spend of over ₹1 lakh also clears the ₹50,000 threshold, so the ₹199 fee is waived from the second year.
Even if your HPCL spending is lower, the maths is forgiving. The fee is so small that a single month of regular fuel and grocery spending covers it, and the zero forex markup can save more than the fee on just one international purchase of a few thousand rupees.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you drive regularly, fill up at HPCL, and want a cheap card that also works well on the occasional foreign trip or international website.
Skip it if you spend more than about ₹12,500 a month on the card. At that level, the IDFC FIRST Power Plus earns a higher rate and its fee is waived too.
