The SBI BPCL Credit Card is a simple, cheap fuel card for anyone who fills up at Bharat Petroleum. You earn 13 reward points per ₹100 on BPCL fuel (about 3.25%) and get a 1% surcharge waiver, for a total saving of roughly 4.25%. It costs ₹499 + GST, the welcome points cover that, and the renewal fee is waived at just ₹50,000 of yearly spend.
How the rewards work
| Where you spend | What you earn | Value back |
|---|---|---|
| BPCL fuel | 13 points per ₹100 + 1% surcharge waiver | ~4.25% |
| Dining, groceries, movies, departmental stores | 5 points per ₹100 | ~1.25% |
| Other retail spends | 1 point per ₹100 | ~0.25% |
| Welcome bonus | 2,000 points on joining | ~₹500 |
Caps to know: bonus points in the fuel category are capped at 1,300 per billing cycle, and the 1% surcharge waiver applies to transactions of up to ₹4,000 and is capped at ₹100 a month.
What you would actually earn
Say you fill up ₹4,000 a month at BPCL and spend ₹6,000 on groceries and dining and ₹5,000 on other bills. You earn 520 + 300 + 50 = 870 points, worth about ₹217, plus a ₹40 surcharge waiver, so roughly ₹257 a month or ₹3,000 a year. That is six times the annual fee, and at ₹1.8 lakh of yearly spend the fee is waived anyway.
Because of the 1,300-point fuel bonus cap and the ₹4,000 per-transaction waiver limit, the card is best for moderate fuel users. If your monthly fuel bill is much higher, consider pairing it with a second fuel card for the extra spend.
Redeeming your points
The best part is redemption. You can redeem your points instantly at BPCL outlets, where they convert straight into free fuel, so there is no catalogue to browse and no voucher to wait for.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you drive or ride regularly, have a BPCL pump on your route, and want a low-cost card that pays for your fuel. The ₹50,000 waiver makes it almost free to hold.
Skip it if you rarely buy fuel or use other oil companies’ pumps. Outside BPCL and the 5X categories it earns only 0.25%.
