If you drive a lot and fill up at BPCL, the SBI BPCL Octane Credit Card is one of the most rewarding fuel cards you can get. It returns up to 7.25% on BPCL fuel, a solid 2.5% on dining, groceries, department stores and movies, and four domestic lounge visits a year. The welcome points alone cover the fee.
How the rewards work
| Where you spend | What you earn | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| BPCL fuel | 25 points per ₹100 (about 6.25%) + 1% surcharge waiver | 2,500 points a month; waiver up to ₹100 a month |
| Dining, groceries, department stores, movies | 10 points per ₹100 (about 2.5%) | 7,500 points a month |
| All other retail spends | 1 point per ₹100 (about 0.25%) | No cap stated |
Point value: 1 reward point = ₹0.25. You can redeem points instantly at select BPCL petrol pumps.
What you would actually earn
Say you spend ₹6,000 a month on BPCL fuel and ₹10,000 on groceries and dining. Fuel earns 1,500 points (₹375) and groceries and dining earn 1,000 points (₹250), plus up to ₹60 from the surcharge waiver. That is about ₹685 a month, or more than ₹8,000 a year.
The fuel cap of 2,500 points is reached at ₹10,000 of BPCL fuel a month. Beyond that, extra fuel spending earns no additional fuel points.
Other benefits
- Welcome: 6,000 bonus reward points (worth ₹1,500) when you pay the annual fee.
- Lounges: 4 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits a year, one per quarter.
- Milestone: a ₹2,000 e-voucher from brands such as Aditya Birla Fashion, Yatra, Hush Puppies or Bata on ₹3 lakh annual spend.
Compared with SBI’s entry-level BPCL card, Octane earns far more per litre and adds lounge access, but its fee is higher, so it suits people spending ₹4,000 or more a month at BPCL pumps.

Who should get it, and who shouldn’t
Get it if you spend ₹4,000–₹10,000 a month on fuel at BPCL and also spend on groceries and dining. Few cards come close on that mix.
Skip it if you mostly fill up at other fuel brands or rarely drive. Outside its categories the card earns just 0.25%.
